Apple released iPhone OS 3.1.2 to all iPhone users. According to Apple’s release notes, the update includes the following bug fixes and improvements:

Resolves sporadic issue that may cause iPhone to not wake from sleep

Resolves intermittent issue that may interrupt cellular network services until restart

Fixes bug that could cause occasional crash during video streaming

iPhone 3.1.2 is mostly bug fixes for problems introduced in iPhone 3.1 including the mysterious random shutdowns that users have dubbed “coma mode.” Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear to include a fix for the GPS bug.

Apple said iPhone OS 3.1.2 is compatible with the iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPhone 3GS. The update is available by plugging your iPhone into your computer and clicking on the update button in iTunes.

It’s a 241.7MB download the iPhone 3G and is available by connecting your iPhone to iTunes and selecting “check for updates” from the Info tab.

After installing 3.1.2, you’ll also be prompted to install v.5.6 of the AT&T carrier settings.

Once finished, your iPhone will restart and immediately alert you to a Carrier Settings update. This is a very small update that will be completed without needing to restart again.

It's convenient to save files and programs to your desktop. The more you have on your desktop, the slower your computer Run. Run "Desktop Cleanup" from the "Start" menu and follow the on-screen instructions. For pictures and other files, create folders in your "My Documents" folder and organize them there.

Run Disk Defragmenter

"Disk Defragmenter" is a useful PC management program that comes pre-installed on all Windows operating systems. For Windows Vista users, you can run the program on a regular schedule, typically once a week. "Disk Defragmenter" will consolidate the fragmented files on your hard disk to improve its overall performance. Find "Disk Defragmenter" under your Windows "Programs" list and run it. If you are running it for the first time, it might take awhile to complete. It's best to start the program and walk away from the computer for awhile.

Speed up your internet speed by 20 %

click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes. This opens the group policy editor. Then go to:
Local Computer Policy
then Computer Configuration
then Administrative Templates then Network then QOS Packet Scheduler and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth.

Double click on Limit Reservable bandwidth. It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the 'Explain' tab i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."
So the trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth, then set it to ZERO. This will allow the system to reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.It works on Win 2000 as well.

PDF is used for representing two-dimensional documents in a manner independent of the application software, hardware, and operating system.

Each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a fixed-layout 2D document (and, with Acrobat 3D, embedded 3D documents) that includes the text, fonts, images, and 2D vector graphics which compose the documents.

In short "PDF" (Portable Document Format) is Adobe(R) Acrobat(R) format. PDF is a proprietary format that allows you to read electronic documents, either on or off line. This format provides a page-by-page view of documents, exactly as they appear in their printed form, as well as allowing keyword search.

Font and graphic information is embedded in the PDF file.
PDF files are based on PostScript, so they print well on almost all printers.

Adobe provides a free Acrobat Reader that allows you to view, navigate, and print PDF files across all major computing platforms. It is the free viewing companion to Adobe Acrobat and to Acrobat Capture(R) software.

The PDF file format has changed several times and continues to evolve, as new versions of Adobe Acrobat were released. There have been nine versions of PDF with corresponding Acrobat releases:

(1993) - PDF 1.0 / Acrobat 1.0

(1994) - PDF 1.1 / Acrobat 2.0

(1996) - PDF 1.2 / Acrobat 3.0

(1999) - PDF 1.3 / Acrobat 4.0

(2001) - PDF 1.4 / Acrobat 5.0

(2003) - PDF 1.5 / Acrobat 6.0

(2005) - PDF 1.6 / Acrobat 7.0

(2006) - PDF 1.7 / Acrobat 8.0

(2008) - PDF 1.7, Adobe Extension Level 3 / Acrobat 9.0

Windows Movie Maker is a basic video creating/editing software included in Microsoft Windows. It contains features such as effects, transitions, titles/credits, audio track, timeline narration, and Auto Movie. New effects and transitions can be made and existing ones can be modified using XML code. Windows Movie Maker is also a basic audio track editing program. It can apply basic effects to audio tracks such as fade in or fade out. The audio tracks can then be exported in the form of a sound file instead of a video file.

Windows Me was the first version to include Windows Movie Maker. Updated versions are included with Windows XP, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, and Windows Vista.

Development of Windows Movie Maker was abandoned after the release of Windows Vista; its replacement, Windows Live Movie Maker, will be included with Windows Live Essentials, a free download from Windows Live; however Microsoft has stated that Windows Live Movie Maker will not have the same features as Windows Movie Maker.

Already installed on newer computers that are running Windows XP, Movie Maker has drag and drop features to make creating and editing your movie easier. Microsoft has many add-ons for this software, and upgrades are available through the website. This is one of the best free video editing software programs available.

Computer hackers can use power sockets to scout what people are typing, warn experts.

Researchers Andrea Barisani and Daniele Bianco, of Inverse Path, have revealed that poor shielding on some keyboard cables can allow hackers to identify each character typed on a computer.

According to the BBC, the information passed along cables connecting keyboards to desktop PCs is leaked onto power circuits.

"Our goal is to show that information leaks in the most unexpected ways and can be retrieved," the Telegraph quoted the researchers as saying.

During the study, the research focused on the cables used to connect a type of keyboard, called a PS/2, to desktop PCs.

They found that six wires inside a PS/2 cable were typically "close to each other and poorly shielded", thus information travelling along the data wire, when a key is pressed, leaks onto the earth wire in the same cable.

The study said that picking up the voltage changes, which identify each keystroke, was made easier because data travels along PS/2 cables one bit at a time. (ANI)

A digital oscilloscope was used to gather data about voltage changes on a power line and filters were used to remove those caused by anything other than the keyboard.

"The PS/2 signal square wave is preserved with good quality... and can be decoded back to the original keystroke information", wrote the pair in a paper.

They demonstrated it working over distances of 1, 5, 10 and 15m from a target, far enough to suggest it could work in a hotel or office.

The attack is due to be demonstrated at the Black Hat conference that takes place in Las Vegas from 25-30 July.

SUN VALLEY, Idaho (Reuters) - Google Inc plans to attack Microsoft Corp's core business by taking on the software giant's globally dominant Windows operating system for personal computers. Google is developing an operating system (OS) for personal computers, in a direct challenge to market leader Microsoft and its Windows system.

Google said netbooks with Chrome OS could be on sale by the middle of 2010.

Speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS," the firm said in its official blog.

The operating system, which will run on an open source licence, was a "natural extension" of its Chrome browser, the firm said.

The news comes just months before Microsoft launches the latest version of its operating system, called Windows 7.

Google, which already offers a suite of e-mail, Web and other software products that compete with Microsoft, said on Tuesday it would launch a new operating system that will initially be targeted at netbooks.

Microsoft shares fell 1.4 percent to $22.22 in early Nasdaq trade on Wednesday. Google shares rose 1.2 percent to $401.36.

Google and Microsoft have locked horns over the years in a variety of markets, from Internet search to mobile software. It remains to be seen if Google can take market share away from Microsoft on its home turf, with Windows currently installed in more than 90 percent of the world's PCs.

The news comes as executives from the world's biggest technology and media companies, including Google and Microsoft, gather in Sun Valley, Idaho for an annual conference organized by boutique investment bank Allen & Co.

A spokesman for Microsoft declined to comment.

Key to success will be whether Google can lock in partnerships with PC makers, such as Hewlett-Packard Co and Dell Inc, which currently offer Windows on most of their product lines.

Hewlett-Packard Co , the world's largest PC brand, declined to confirm if it would sell PCs running on the new operating system.

"We are looking into it" said HP spokeswoman Marlene Somsak, referring to the operating system. "We want to understand all the different operating systems available to customers, and will assess the impact of Chrome on the computer and communications industry."

Google's Chrome Internet browser, launched in late 2008, remains a distant fourth in the Web browser market, with a 1.2 percent share in February, according to market research firm Net Applications. Microsoft's Internet Explorer continues to dominate with nearly 70 percent.
